Montson\u00eds Castle belongs to the Castells Culturals de Catalunya Foundation, with Carlos de Montoliu i Carrasco as its former owner and president, respectively. The aim is to continue its legacy and the initiatives of the foundation, such as the “Cicle M\u00fasica als Castells” (Music at the Castles Series).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Castells Culturals de Catalunya Private Foundation also established the Institut d’Estudis Nobiliaris Catalans<\/b> (Institute of Catalan Nobiliary Studies), which is a section aimed at promoting the development and execution of research and study projects about the Catalan nobility. The headquarters of this foundation is located in Montson\u00eds Castle, in the municipality of Foradada<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Located in the heart of Montson\u00eds, this majestic castle was built in 1024<\/b> to protect the area from possible Muslim invasions until the reconquest of Lleida in 1149, which is when the first reference to this castle appears. It dominates the Salgar gorge<\/b> and the Artesa de Segre valley.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are various rooms, such as the Shield Room, a private oratory, and the pilgrim’s room. Additionally, you can visit the prison<\/b>, which still preserves the chains and furniture from the era. In the cellar, a secret passage<\/b> leading to the Salgar Monastery was discovered during the Spanish Civil War.
