Visit to the Interior of Montsonís Castle.

Located in the heart of Montsonís, this majestic castle was built in 1024 to protect the area from possible Muslim invasions until the reconquest of Lleida in 1149, which is when the first reference to this castle appears. It dominates the Salgar gorge and the Artesa de Segre valley.

Inside, there are various rooms, such as the Shield Room, a private oratory, and the pilgrim’s room. Additionally, you can visit the prison, which still preserves the chains and furniture from the era. In the cellar, a secret passage leading to the Salgar Monastery was discovered during the Spanish Civil War. This passage had been sealed off for 130 years due to the phylloxera plague that affected the vineyards in the area.
